Hands-on review: ZVEX Effects Fuzz Probe

My history as a musicican is somewhat nonexistant. I actually used this equipment as backup in a small nightclub that I used to own. It was used primarily for live music, usually with vocals and a couple of guitars run through it.

This was purchased through Musicians Friend for about $350.00 or so as part of a set including 2 KSE10 speakers.

I like the range of controls that the head unit gives, as well as the construction of the unit itself.

One of the nuts on the back of one of the inputs has fell off, so that had to be repaired. This was a quick and easy fix, but is slightly irritating nonetheless.

The construction of the head unit seems to be fairly rugged, and I like the hard grille on the speakers themselves. These have been moved a lot and handled somewhat roughly, and the only problem is with the nut on the input.

I am fairly happy with this product. It is an inexpensive solution that I am actually using on my computer, of all places, right now. (I listen to a lot of music and play a lot of movies on it.) The small club that it was used in was about 1000 square feet and it was meaty enough to be able to handle the venue. This would be perfect for a small band or someone with a small area with live music. Might also be used well for someone who has a lot of parties in thier house.

I purchased this unit from Musicians Friend out of there catolog and it cost me around $200 without shipping.

It has an adequate amount of channels for our band and enough power necesary to run the speakers it came with.

The cables that came with it to hook up the speakers are small and don't work very well with the system.

One thing I didn't like about this system is the way the cooling fin on the inside is mounted. It is mounted on the circuit board and isn't supported. The first system I bought when I recieved it the fin was broken off and the system didn't work at all.
